On Monday, 4 December, a meeting took place between representatives of the Town Council and the Christmas Light installation contractors, it was agreed that, for this year, the original icicle lights would be installed.
The installation will take place following the placement of new fixtures at each end of the cross street wires, plus a further weight test before the actual installation.
The installation contractors committed to undertaking this task, but reported that their weight testing equipment was currently undergoing its annual calibration.
Yesterday, an email was received from the installation contractors confirming that the weight testing equipment is expected to be back with them on the 14 December and that they aim to organise the necessary works and installation throughout the night of 14 December.
The Hire Agreement for the new lights has been deferred to 2024.
