Streetlight Tampering in Cowbridge

We have recently received several reports of streetlights not working in parts of Cowbridge.

When our contractor attended to carry out repairs, it was discovered that a number of lampposts had been manually switched off at the base without Council authorisation.

The following locations have been affected so far:

The Butts – 5 lampposts switched off at the base
Melbourne Close – 3 lampposts switched off at the base
The Verlands – 4 lampposts switched off at the base

All identified lights have now been reinstated.

We are currently unsure why this has occurred. However, as unauthorised interference with street lighting may present safety concerns and could potentially be linked to criminal activity, we felt it was important to raise awareness.

If residents notice any streetlights not working, or witness any tampering with lampposts, please report this directly to the Vale of Glamorgan Council as soon as possible
