Cowbridge Town Council Surgery – Community Update
Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Council Surgery on Saturday, 27th September.
Councillors Sue Bond, Danial Sami, Ruth Chapman, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and other council members were joined by our local community policeman to hear your concerns and ideas.
Key Issues Raised:
-
Litter and Dog Fouling: Residents highlighted ongoing problems with litter, dog mess, and broken glass, especially in public spaces like rugby fields, Clare Garden Village’s playground, and car parks.
-
Speeding and Antisocial Behaviour: Concerns were raised about speeding, particularly on Llantwit Road, and threatening behaviour when challenged.
-
Bear Field Parking: Unauthorised parking on Bear Field is causing disruption and damage.
-
Placemaking Plan: Residents viewed proposals for local development, and discussed improvements to Old Hall Gardens and the need for youth facilities.
-
Other Issues: Discussions included pavement widths near the new retirement home, overgrown plants in shopping areas, and questions about the new Welsh School.
Next Steps:
We’re working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council on these issues and will keep residents updated.
Actions will include litter strategies and resources, incorporating feedback into our Cowbridge Placemaking Plan, resolving the Bear Field parking, and further public engagement.
Look out for more information on our website, including links to the Placemaking Plan and details on upcoming projects.
