Rail replacement buses during Vale of Glamorgan Line improvement works
Buses will replace trains on routes between Cardiff Central and Penarth, Barry, Barry Island and Bridgend via the Vale of Glamorgan Line from 10pm on Sunday 25 October until the end of service on Sunday 1 November 2026.
The work will include replacing track in Llantwit Major, renewing points and crossings in Cogan, track work between Grangetown and Eastbrook, and other maintenance along the line. These improvements will help maintain a safe and reliable railway for passenger and freight services.
During the closure, replacement buses will run between:
- Cardiff Central and Penarth
- Cardiff Central and Barry and Barry Island
- Cardiff Central and Bridgend via the Vale of Glamorgan Line
Passengers should check before travelling and allow extra time, as journeys will take longer than usual.
